Class 40 Preservation Society's D345 at the head of Pathfinder Railtours 'The Whistling Geordie', approaching Heaton Lodge East Junction.
The railtour had started at Burton-On-Trent with a pair of West Coast Railway Company (WCRC) class 37s and was headed to Newcastle. The route north was via the West Coast Mainline to Crewe, where the class 40 was attached, then Warrington, Manchester Victoria, Huddersfield via the Standedge Tunnel, reaching the East Coast Mainline via Wakefield Kirkgate and Church Fenton.
WCRC's 57010 was on the rear.
